Don't Be Afraid to ROAR: Herbs for Leo Season

The relief! As Leo season is right around the corner, ending Cancerian energy. The aspects of the cosmos have almost always been incorporated into the wellness protocol; until it was deemed as illogical and mysterious. Anyway, that conversation will be saved for another day. When zodiac signs shift, we feel the shift as well as our bodies integrated the energies one way or another. The change can be denoted by the position of the planets and other cosmic beings around us. There are tools readily available to assist with the integration, one of them being herbs and botanicals of sorts.

In summary, the transition from Cancer to Leo is quite noticeable, as our once fluid approach to life is set aflame by the determination and passion of the Leo energy.

Planetary Correspondence: Sun

Element: Fire

Animal: Lion

General Herbal Actions: analgesic, cardio-tonic, expectorant, nutritive, tonic

According the the humours model, Leo encompasses the hot and dry, and a potentiality of aggression or passion, and anywhere between the spectrum; such as the lion, king of the jungle, emanates vitality and confidence. The Leo energy channels the warmth of the Sun, and with this golden light you are encouraged to be your authentic self and put yourself out there. Together Leo and Sun rule the circulatory system, upper back, chest, heart, spinal cord, bones, and distribution of nutrients.

The higher heart chakra is activated during this time, as Leo rules the heart. You know that space in your chest that warms up when you are speaking or need to speak on something? This is where the higher heart chakra, also known as the thymus chakra, lies-or burns, rather. Many healers say this is where the seat of the soul rests. Because of this, the thyroid is also a body affinity of Leo.
